Programs Committee

The Programs Committee shall be responsible for conducting the Annual Meeting, providing educational programs to the membership and planning and managing the expenses for such programs. Continuing educational programs shall be offered on a periodic basis throughout the year.

 

Government Affairs Committee

The Government Affairs Committee shall provide input into the legislative process at the state or national level regarding issues affecting the pharmacy profession on behalf of HPhA; provide liaison between HPhA and the regulatory bodies in the State including but not limited to the Department of Human Services, Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Board of Pharmacy, Department of Health, and Department of Public Safety; and encourage the participation of Members in the legislative process.

 

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee shall be responsible for matters dealing with membership in HPhA. The Committee is responsible for maintaining the member database, ensuring collection of membership dues, recruiting new members, proposing renewal fees, and minimizing attrition. Membership profiles will remain the property of the association and membership lists shall not be provided to a third party without the approval of the Board and if member has designated approval to release information as per his/her membership application.

 

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee shall be composed of the Treasurer, the Immediate Past President, the Exec. Director, and at least two active members not on the Board of Directors. The Finance Committee shall meet periodically and make recommendations to the Board as to the proper management, conservation, and prudent investment of the assets and funds of HPhA. The two non-Board members of the committee shall review the financial records of HPhA for correctness and completeness and shall report findings to the Board of Directors annually or whenever the Treasurer changes.

 

Scholarship and Awards Committee

The scholarship and awards committee is responsible for requesting nominations and coordinates the voting process for the board of directors positions and awards.  The committee also requests for nominations and helps with the selection process for the scholarship recipient(s), if funds are available. Awards and respective selection criteria are listed below:

  1. Bowl of Hygeia (Sponsor: Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc.)
    • Recipient must be a licensed pharmacist in the State of Hawaii with a record of outstanding community service that, apart from his/her specific identification as a pharmacist reflects well on the profession.
    • Recipient cannot be currently serving, nor have served within the immediate past two years, as an officer or member of the Awards Committee.
    • Recipient must be living and not have been a previous recipient of the award.
  2. Pharmacist of the Year (Sponsor: Hawaii Pharmacists Association)
    • Recipient must be a licensed pharmacist in the State of Hawaii who has serviced the profession with contributions to pharmacy programs, teamwork with health care teams and service to the community.
    • Recipient must be a member of HPhA.
  3. Pharmacy Technician of the Year (Sponsor: Hawaii Pharmacists Association) 
    • Recipient must be a pharmacy technician employed in the State of Hawaii who has serviced the profession with contributions to pharmacy programs, teamwork with health care teams and service to the community.
    • Recipient must be a member of HPhA.
  4. Distinguished Young Pharmacist (Sponsor: Pharmacists Mutual Companies)
    • Recipient must have received a pharmacy degree within the last ten years.
    • Recipient must be a licensed pharmacist in the State of Hawaii and a member of HPhA.
    • Recipient has participated in national pharmacy associations, professional programs, HPhA activities, and/or community service.
  5. Friends of Pharmacy (Sponsor: Hawaii Pharmacists Association) 
    • Recipient is a non-pharmacist who has made significant contributions toward improving or expanding the profession of pharmacy in the State of Hawaii.
  6. Medical Service Representative of Hawaii (MSRH) (Sponsor: Hawaii Pharmacists Association)
    • Recipient is a medical service representative that has made significant contributions toward improving or expanding the profession of pharmacy in the State of Hawaii
  7. Excellence in Innovation (Sponsor: Upsher-Smith Laboratories)
    • Recipient must be a licensed pharmacist in the State of Hawaii who has demonstrated an innovative pharmacy practice resulting in improved patient care.
  8. 50 Year Pharmacy Practice Recognition (Sponsor: Hawaii Pharmacists Association)
    • Current resident of Hawaii that has been a licensed pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy in the United States for 50 years or more.
    • All of the nominees that meet the criteria in this category will receive recognition from HPhA.
  9. Generation Rx Champions Award (Sponsor: Cardinal Health)
    • Pharmacist who has demonstrated work with prescription drug abuse
